Week 16: Teaching-learning relationships in the Arts

We are now seeking applications for the Beeby Fellowship so we thought we’d dig into the Beeby archives this week.

Deborah Fraser of the University of Waikato was awarded the fellowship in 2007 and produced a book on teaching of the Arts. Her Beeby work grew out of a TLRI project she was involved in, which is described in a set article (set 1, 2007) “Relational pedagogy and the Arts”.

This article explores the multiple relationships (ie, a child’s relationship with teacher, peers, the art medium and with self) through which children learn in the Arts, with implications for the teachers.

This will be a really interesting read to all those involved in art education.

You can access the article here.
