Week three: Taking a “future focus” in education

Back in April 2012, Senior Researcher Rachel Bolstad wrote a blog post “Taking a ‘future focus’ in education” on the Shifting Thinking website. It’s an interesting post to look back on because Rachel acknowledges how hard it is to take a “future focus” in education. The thinkings around “schooling for the future” have become a relatively familiar to many of us today. However, the concepts around future-oriented education are still new and evolving (as is the nature of future-oriented work!). In this post, Rachel breaks down three ways of interpreting future-focused education. These interpretations are good, simple notions that are worth considering when you think about tomorrow’s learning.
