Future Thinking
Future Thinking describes an innovative programme developed for Year 9 students at Hamilton Boys' High School.
The programme aims to provide students with the foundation skills they need in order to become intelligent, autonomous learners. It enables students to develop the ability to think in new ways, to expand their reasoning processes, and to acquire skills that are essential to realising their full potential.
The book shows how students are encouraged to reflect daily on what they have learnt, as a way of embedding new learning and encouraging its transfer to other situations. The Future Thinking programme is different from many other programmes, in that students are actively involved in the development of their learning activities, and are encouraged to reflect on the purpose and value of each one.
Future Thinking offers teachers a range of activities designed to provide students with challenging and rewarding educational experiences.
