The APS is a 346-item self-report measure of psychopathology, personality, socialemotional problems, and competencies. The items directly evaluate specific DSM-IV symptoms of psychiatric disorders found in adolescents. The instrument comprises 40 scales that measure four broad content domains:

  • 20 Clinical disorder scales
  • 5 Personality disorder scales
  • 11 Psychosocial problem content scales
  • 4 Response style indicator scales

Other psychological problems and behaviours that interfere with the adolescent's psychosocial adaptation and personal competence are also assessed.

A 115-item short form is also available.

Computer-scored only.
