The CSA is used to assess coping strategies in adults. These strategies form the basis of four coping styles: dealing independently with the problem; nonproductive coping; optimism; and sharing.
The CSA is primarily a self-help instrument but also has a place in clinical practice, career planning, and personnel work. It is used by psychologists, counsellors, medical practitioners, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, human resource managers, and social researchers.
