The GHQ is a self-administered screening test detecting nonpsychotic psychiatric disorders in people presenting for treatment. The questionnaire focuses on two major areas: inability to carry out normal functions, and the appearance of new and distressing phenomena. There are four forms:

  • GHQ-60 for detailed assessment
  • GHQ-30 for quick screening
  • GHQ-28 for research purposes
  • GHQ-12 useful for survey work.
