The OWLS is an assessment of receptive and expressive language for children and young adults, comprising the Listening Comprehension Scale (LCS) and the Oral Expression Scale (OES). In the LCS a verbal stimulus is read aloud and the child responds by indicating a picture on the easel. The child answers a question, completes a sentence, or generates one or more sentences in response to a visual/verbal stimulus in the OES.
