The PIC-2 was designed to evaluate the emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and interpersonal adjustment of children and teens. It comprises 275 true/false items completed by the parent or caregiver, covering the following scales:
- Cognitive impairment
- Family dysfunction
- Psychological discomfort
- Impulsivity and distractability
- Reality distortion
- Social withdrawal
- Deliquency
- Somatic concern
- Social skills deficits
- Inconsistency
- Dissimulation
- Defensiveness
Two to three subscales make up each of the above adjustment scales.
Also available is a behavioural summary which comprises the first 96 items of the tests.
Requiring only 15 minutes to administer, it can be used for screening or monitoring change. For a comprehensive assessment, the PIC-2 provides the parent’s description of the child, the Personality Inventory for Youth provides the child’s self-report, and the Student Behaviour Survey (page 10) supplies a teacher rating.
