The SCATBI assesses the cognitive abilities of head-injured individuals to establish the severity of the injury and to chart progress during recovery. Each of the five subtests can be administered independently. These are:
- Perception/discrimination
- Orientation
- Organisation
- Recall
- Reasoning
The norms are standardised on both head-injured and non-injured adults in order to make comparisons between the recovering patient's performance and normal expectations.
