Adult literacy and numeracy assessment tool
The assessment tool is being developed for the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) by NZCER, leading a consortium with the Australian Council for Educational Research and IT provider Fronde Systems Group. The development process draws on the collective curriculum and assessment expertise of NZCER, ACER and TEC, and the IT expertise of Fronde.
The Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool is an online adaptive tool primarily designed to provide robust and reliable information on the reading, writing and numeracy skills of adults. This information will inform the development of learning interventions that match learners’ needs and strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills. The assessment tool will also allow learners to track their progress over time and enable educators and organisations to report on the progress made by groups or cohorts of learners.
The Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool is on track to be available for use in March 2010.
NZCER is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the assessment tool. Users of the assessment tool should email assessforadults@nzcer.org.nz to request support, lodge a complaint, or post a comment.
