NCEA and curriculum innovation
This project aims to document a range of ways in which NCEA has opened up opportunities for curriculum innovation. Such opportunities could relate to: pathways structures in a school; course innovation within or across subjects; developing different types of learning and/or assessment opportunities within individual standards and so on.
This is exploratory research. We aim to work with known innovators to develop case studies of change in context. We will then look across the individual cases to identify similarities and differences in curriculum and assessment thinking, and how these do or don't align with the espoused intent of NCEA. The part that moderation plays in stimulating and supporting innovation will be a sub-theme of the analysis, with the potential to align this project with the Learning and Moderation project.
This project is funded by NZCER's Purchase Agreement with the Ministry of Education.
