The test contains a mix of text types: narratives, poems and informational texts. The narratives include short stories and extracts from novels, and the informational texts include instructions and factual recounts. All texts are of the type typically used in classroom reading instruction (that is, there are no scripted conversations in this edition).

Within each test there is a range of text types, content, length and text difficulty, as well as different types of questions and levels of difficulty.
