At the end of November the NZCER Board farewelled Fiona Pimm the outgoing Chair and in September the Board also farewelled Frances Nelson and Arapera Royal Tangaere.

Frances served as a Board member from 2013-2021, and Arapera from 2017-2021. Their knowledge about education, their networks, experiences and governance skills have all played a significant part in supporting and governing NZCER.

Fiona has been involved with the Board since 2014 when she was co-opted onto the Board to help strengthen its governance. As part of helping to strengthen the governance, NZCER developed a strategic plan that has withstood the test of time and helped to steer the organisation to where it is today. The original and updated versions of the strategic plan have influenced our decision making, and set clear aspirations for NZCER.

Professor John O’Neill the new Chair of the NZCER Board says “we thank them all for their tremendous contribution to NZCER and the future of education. We wish them all well on their new journeys, including Fiona’s role as a member on the newly established interim Board for the Māori Health Authority, we know her expertise will be well utilised in establishing the new organisation.”
