NZCER hosts international visitors for mutual learning

We were very fortunate to recently have hosted international visitors from the USA and Taiwan.

US researcher, Chris Sturgis discussed some of her work in the area of competency education. Some of the questions raised in her presentation included do we want actively engaged learners? What does competency-based learning look like in the USA and New Zealand? Staff who attended found the conversations useful to be able to explore both similarities and differences for mutual learning.

We also hosted a delegation from the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) in Taiwan. NAER came here to learn about NZCER, our research programme, our work in Māori education, and assessment. It was interesting to hear about the role NAER plays in education and educational research in Taiwan.
