Maraea joined Te Wāhanga in 2016. In previous years, she worked as a kaiako in kōhanga reo and in kura kaupapa Māori, and as a publisher of resources for Māori-medium schools. In 2016, Maraea completed her Doctoral thesis on two children’s socialisation in te reo Māori within their whānau. Maraea is passionate about te reo Māori, children’s learning, and child acquisition of te reo Māori.
