Tanya joined NZCER in 2014. She currently heads the support work for the Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tool (LNAAT) and provides testing and support as well as PLD for organisations through workshops and webinars. Tanya also supports a number of other NZCER services and tools including the Wellbeing@School and Inclusive Practices Toolkits, The TLRI website, the Assessment Resource Banks (ARBs), and NZCER Marking Service. Tanya has a particular interest in the use of language, writing, speaking, and information technology. She was a member of the development teams for the Starting Points, Te Ata Hāpara, and Youth LNAAT assessment options, and was also involved in the creation of NZCER’s Marking Service online assessment platform.
Prior to her work at NZCER Tanya worked in radio as a copywriter, announcer, and journalist. She also undertook freelance media writing including speeches, media releases, website writing and corporate communications. She has written for the Manawatu Rugby Union, the Palmerston North City Council, Palmerston North (former) Mayor Heather Tanguay, The Radio Network, RadioWorks (now Mediaworks), and Radio New Zealand.
Tanya has a Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications (Ara Institute of Technology) and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism (Massey University).
