Janine joined NZCER as Kaituki Ratonga Aromatawai | Team Lead Assessment Services, bringing experience in primary education as a classroom teacher, school leader, and mathematics facilitator. She has served as a national lead facilitator, supporting schools across Aotearoa during recent curriculum updates to strengthen teaching and learning in mathematics.
Janine’s work is driven by a strong interest in how assessment can meaningfully inform teaching practice. She has partnered closely with teachers to deepen their understanding of students’ thinking and to use assessment information to strengthen instructional decisions—particularly in complex areas such as rational number. At NZCER, she contributes to the development of assessment tools and resources that support effective classroom practice and leads the assessment professional services team.
