With assessment high on the agenda for many schools, we have seen a strong takeup of the Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) so far this term. But how can you make sure you're getting the most out of your assessment information?
NZCER's expert Education Advisors are available to support schools with assessment and reporting in a number of ways - below are some of the PLD workshops that may be of use this term.
- Analysis: The progress story - This workshop supports senior leaders to analyse data in the context of an overarching progress story. It will help you understand whether teaching and learning programmes are making a difference for all students, and to understand what assessment information can do to inform your strategic direction.
- Investigate assessment data in a learning area - This workshop supports leaders and teachers to explore and analyse data from one of NZCER's assessment tools, be it a PAT, the STAR Reading Test, or one of our other options. It helps you interpret reports, understand scale scores, and consider how this assessment information can support teaching or learning.
- Building leadership assessment capability - This workshop supports leaders to find trends and patterns in your data, to develop a school-wide inquiry that supports improved teaching practice.
We can also help you get started with PATs if you're still thinking about using them, or provide custom support for your school or cluster - just contact our Education Advisors to find out more.
