Kaipūtaiao Raraunga – Data Scientist
Jessie joined NZCER in 2023. She is an experienced data scientist with expertise in machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), data analysis, modelling and visualisation. Her work focuses on extracting insight from complex educational datasets and translating findings into clear, accessible evidence for diverse audiences, including through dashboards, infographics, and reports. She brings strong technical capability in AI modelling and statistical modelling for education. She is particular interest in using AI-informed approaches to support high-quality educational research, as well as applying AI in educational practice to make real-world impact.
Jessie holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Otago, where her research focuses on applying AI to improve writing assessment.
