On teaching reading and being a reader

Abstract

Draws on the findings of a recent research project, Lifelong Literacy (Twist & McDowall, 2010). Argues that developing students who are readers requires teachers who not only have the content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge, but who are themselves readers and bring their reader identities to the classroom.
