Natalie Paterson

Natalie has experience working as a teacher, test administrator, curriculum advisory group member, teaching resource developer, educational content editor and writer, and as a visiting lecturer. She joined the research team in 2023.  Her research interests include effective literacy and mathematics assessment, intervention, and teaching practices in relation to equity, cultural engagement, bilingual and multilingual education, initial teacher education, and learning difficulties. She is a firm supporter of using assessment and evidence-based teaching practices to drive teaching and learning, and of promoting teacher engagement in high-quality research. Natalie is also passionate about arts education. 

Qualifications 

  • Master of Education with Distinction. Endorsement: Literacy. University of Canterbury. 

  • Bachelor of Teaching (primary). University of Otago.
