NZCER is excited to introduce new item reporting for the Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs), our standardised assessments for years 3-11.

This is a type of reporting in our NZCER Assist platform, available for both static and adaptive assessments. With item reporting, you can organise and filter the results of your ākonga by:

  • Percentage of correct answers,
  • Item difficulty,
  • Encounters (number of students who were given a question),
  • Strands of learning (ie number knowledge, statistics, algebra).

This much more detailed reporting allows kaiako to fully understand – and communicate – the story of achievement and progress in their class.

To help you get up to speed with item reporting, our Kaitohu Mātauranga | Education Advisors have prepared a 20-minute introductory video, focused on PAT Pāngarau, showing you how to navigate the new item reports and the kind of insights you can glean from the data.

You can find the video below, as well as over at our bank of equity-focused resources to support schools as they administer PATs.

In addition to the PATs, you will also find that item reporting is available across the majority of our assessments in NZCER Assist (excluding Te Urungi and the STAR reading test).
