The refreshed Mathematics and Statistics learning area of Te Mātaiaho invites kaiako to navigate new opportunities, challenges, and ways of thinking about teaching and learning. Finding the route between these waypoints may not always be straightforward, but with knowledge, experience, and collective wisdom, we can navigate. The articles in this special issue, Te Kaha o te Pāngarau: The Power of Mathematics, bring together diverse perspectives to support educators as they respond to change and reflect on what effective mathematics and statistics teaching can look like now.
