NZCER is a bicultural, independent educational research organisation based in Wellington.
We have multiple education research, evaluation, and advisory projects on the go at any time. We also provide and support a suite of educational assessments, tools, and services, and have a publishing arm, NZCER Press.

Mātanga Whakahaere | Application Support Specialist
Educational Assessment Tools
We are looking to appoint two Mātanga Whakahaere | Application Support Specialists. One of the roles is permanent to replace a kaimahi who is leaving, and the other is fixed term for 12-months to assist with the transitional workload resulting from sector changes.
You will have a strong interest in the education sector, you will excel at providing great customer service and have experience working with online technologies and web platforms. Answering queries and providing advice on using NZCER’s education assessment tools and other applications/range of services, is a key focus of these roles.
We welcome applications from people with:
- An interest and understanding of education in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- A passion for providing outstanding customer service.
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
- Experienced in working with on-line technologies and web platforms.
- Confidence with handling bulk data, its analysis, and interpreting results.
- Superb organisational skills, and capacity to maintain enthusiasm and focus when performing routine tasks.
- A personal desire for ongoing learning and development.
- A strong interest in learning (or continuing to develop) te reo Māori.
- Experience working with Māori, with Māori data, and in Māori contexts or Māori-centred projects an advantage.
- Experience as a kaiako/teacher may be an advantage.
