An Act to make further Provision for the Education of the People of New Zealand

Abstract: 

Whereas it is expedient to make further and better provision for the education of the people in the Colony of New Zealand:
Be It Therefore Enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
1. The Short Title of this Act shall be " The Education Act, 1877."
2. This Act shall con1e into operation on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, except as to the appointment of the Minister, the Secretary to the Department of Education, the Inspectors of Schools, and other officers, and the making of regulations and orders, and the provisions of sections seventeen and eighteen, for which purposes only this Act shall come into force on the passing hereof.
