He uri a Keita nō Ngāti Kauwhata, nō Rangitāne hoki. I te taha o tōna whaea, nō Tauranga Moana ia.  

Keita began her teaching career in 2016, working as a Bilingual Teacher in an rūmaki unit in Tauranga Moana. She has experience working with the New Zealand curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. She has also led a newly established bilingual unit in Whangārei, working successfully with iwi, hapū, whanau and leadership to create the foundation for the unit. Currently, she is completing her Professional Inquiry for a Master of Education (Māori Education) through Massey University in Palmerston North. Her research explores effective practices that contribute to the success of Māori students in English-Medium secondary schools, from the perspective of Māori principals.  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) – Waikato University 
  • Diploma in Te Tohu Paetahi – Waikato University
